CERN is known as the scientific research organization which operates the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) – the largest experiment ever undertaken, which targets to explain mysteries behind the creation of the universe. The experiment data is primarily collected through light sensors – which are basically cameras, although ones capable of taking pictures at 100 megapixel resolution, and quick enough to capture events taking place on a sub-atomic scale. Numerous breakthroughs, including the recent Higgs particle discovery, have been made which have increased our understanding of how and why the universe works. None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for CERN’s commitment to innovating in the field of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and many more techniques. In this talk the impact of those innovations and applications will be discussed in terms of up-to-date scientific applications and how they propagated to the industrial and business intelligence problems.
